1. Renal coretex

Renal Cortex

Outerlayer of the kidney.


Composed of one million nephrons.

Nephron

Each nephron contains:


A glomerulus, & a bowmans capsule.

Renal arteries

Kindeys receive blood from the renal arteries.

Proximal convoluted tubule

Where water glucose ions and other organic molecules are resorbed back into the blood stream.

Renal Medulla

Where the collecting tubules are located.

Inner layer

Renal pelvis

Materials flow out of the renal medulla to the renal pelvis as urine.

Innermost portion.

Ureters

Urine is drained from the kidneys by the ureters to the bladder.

Bladder

Stores urine until expulsion from the body through the urethra.
