Indels

Shifts reading frame by removing [2] nucleotides.

Causes: viral insertion/excision and excision repair.

Inversion

Take a portion of the chromosome and you reverse it, or can happen when wrong chromosomes line up during Meiosis 1. Wrong direction.

Causes:Unequalcrossover:Intrachromosomal (within) orInterchromosomal.

Translocations

Portion of one relocates into another. Twodifferent chromosomes(non-homologus)crossover.

Frame Shift

Insertion or deletion with a couple of bases rather than an entire sequence.

Result: all amino acid's changed beyond the insertion. Entirely throwing off reading frame.

Complementation

Traitscan be dictated by more than one gene, mutation in two different genes can give identical phenotype. Get one gene to mask a mutation in another (two mutant parents).
