heredity
The passing of traits from parents to offspring.
self-pollinating plant
A plant that contains both male and female reproductive structures.
true-breeding plant
A plant that when it self pollinates, it will always produce offspring with the same trait the parent plant has.
dominant trait
The trait that masks or hides another
recessive trait
The trait that seems to vanish into the backround.
genes
Each plant contributes two of these for each trait.
alleles
Two genes that govern the same characteristic.
Punnett square
A tool used to visualize all the possible combinations of alleles from the parents.
genotype
The inherited combination of alleles.
phenotype
An organism's inherited appearance....physical appearance.
probability
The mathematical chance that an event will occur.
