what are the clinical features of chronic pancreatitis?

1. severe pain in epigastrium; recurrent or persistent abdo pain
-often accompanied by nausea and vomit -may be aggravated by a drinking episode, or by eating -radiates to the back (in 50% of cases) 2. weight loss, due to malabsorption, alcohol abuse, DM; steatorrhea secondary to malabsorption. |

clinical features of pancreatitis
|
-abdo pain (90%) can be vague dull ache
-jaundice (mainly with cancer of head of pancreas, <10% of head or tail cancers have this -weight loss (malabsorption and decreased intake of food) -DM, mild elevated glucose -depression, weakness, fatigue -migratory thrombophlebitis (rare) -Courvoisier's sign (enlarged GB) in 30% head tumours w/o abdo pain. |
