What are the factors in determining the amount of emf generated. |
- density of the magnetic flux - length of conductor within the magnetic field - rate at which the conductor cuts the lines of magnetic force (the rate of cutting is determined by the speed of the conductor and the angle it is at) |
|
When does a conductor generates maximum emf? |
When it cuts directly across the (magnetic) lines of force. At an angle of 90° and 270°. |
|
When is no emf generated? |
When it is moving parallel to the (magnetic) lines of force. At an angle of 0° and 180°. |
|
When does an electromotive force (emf) or voltage develop in a conductor. |
Where there is relative motion between the conductor and magnetic flux. |
|
At what rate does a conductor cut the lines of force in a magnetic field, if it travels at a constant speed on a circular path around a center point? |
At a constantly changing rate. |
