What is a function? |
A rule that maps one set of values to another, where the input (x values) can only have one output. |
What is a relation? |
A rule that maps one set of values to another where the input (x values) can have one or more output ( y values) |
What is a domain? |
Set of all input values of a function or relation |
What is codomain? |
Set of all output values of a function or relation. However not all values need to be used. |
What is range? |
Set of all output values of a function or relation which are all used. Range is a subset of codomain. |
What is an injective function? |
For every y in the codomain there is most one x in the domain. A horizontal line should intersect the function at most once. |
One to one only |
What is a subjective function? |
For every y in the codomain there is at least one x in the domain. A horizontal line should intersect the function at least once. |
One to one or many to one |
What is a bijective function? |
For every y in the codomain there is exactly one x in the domain. A horizontal line intersects the function exactly once. |
One to one |
