Loop Diuretics

What are the actions of Loop duiretics?

Loop Diuretics work by inhibiting Na+ K+ and Cl reabsorption in the ascending limb of Henle within the nephron. This also reduces H2O reabsorption due to the osmotic pull of these electrolytes.

Glomuler Flitration Rate

What is the globular filtration rate?

Globular filtration rate is the rate in which the glomeralous within a nephron filters toxins and electrolytes from the blood.

N.B. This is usually 800ml-2000ml daily between the 2 kidneys

Nephrons

How many nephrons are there said to be in each kidney?

What is the average size of a kidney?

There are said to be between 800,000 to 1 million nephrons in each kidney

The kidney measures between 10-12cm on average.

Where does filtration occur?

Filtration occurs at the bowman's capsule where nutrients and fluid entry the nephron and are then reabsorbed into the bloodstream with excess nutrients and being excreted in the urine.
