Loop Diuretics
What are the actions of Loop duiretics? |
Loop Diuretics work by inhibiting Na+ K+ and Cl reabsorption in the ascending limb of Henle within the nephron. This also reduces H2O reabsorption due to the osmotic pull of these electrolytes. |
|
Glomuler Flitration Rate
What is the globular filtration rate? |
Globular filtration rate is the rate in which the glomeralous within a nephron filters toxins and electrolytes from the blood.
N.B. This is usually 800ml-2000ml daily between the 2 kidneys |
|
Nephrons
How many nephrons are there said to be in each kidney?
What is the average size of a kidney? |
There are said to be between 800,000 to 1 million nephrons in each kidney
The kidney measures between 10-12cm on average. |
|
Where does filtration occur? |
Filtration occurs at the bowman's capsule where nutrients and fluid entry the nephron and are then reabsorbed into the bloodstream with excess nutrients and being excreted in the urine. |
