What are the 4 types of sprinkler systems?
wet pipe, dry pipe, preaction, deluge
What is a wet pipe sprinkler system? (advantages)
Most common quick reaction, system that exists only works well in environments over 40 degrees F
What is a dry pipe sprinkler system? (advantages/disadvantages)
Activated by air or nitro, delayed, works well in environments under 40 degrees f
Issue is when you charge a dry system it's more likely to leak out of any open outlets or ports.
What is a pre-action sprinkler system?
closed heads, responds only to initiating device good for communications/computer systems
What is a deluge system?
All heads open when valve is opened, perfect for high risk environements
What is a Class 1 stand pipe? (GPM & use)
500gpm and only 2 1/2 connection for fire personnel
What is a Class 2 stand pipe? (GPM & use)
100gpm, contains 1 1/2 connection for occupants (wet) w/ 50 psi nozzle

turn it off at the riser and drain that line because if you turn off the os&y it'll turn off all the water to the building

150gpm w/ a minimum of 2 2 1/2 inch hose lines

135-175 degrees

it's a bulb filled with liquid with a little air bubble when it reaches a certain temperature that bubble evaporates into the liquid and the liquid expands.
