Starling forces

-

Hydrostatic Pressure

the Pressure that a fluid exerts on the walls of it's compartment

"pushing"

The Glomerular blood hydrostaic pressure is the main drive of glumerular filtration as it forces fluid out of the glumerular capillary

Oncotic pressure

pressure of plasma proteins on the walls of the compartment in which they are contained . they "pull" water in

glumerular capillary

NFP

= HP of glumerulus capillary - HP of the bowman's capsulale - oncotic pressure of the glumer.

Control of GFR

Vasocontriction of Afferent arteriole = increased arertiole resistance and therfore less blood filtered -> less filtarte produced

Vsoconstriction of Efferent arteriole= increased resistance away from glumerourulus and therefore greater hydrostatic pressure in glomerulus forcing filtrate out -> more filtrate produced
