Hyperbole

An extreme exaggeration, usually ridiculous. Often used to be humorous.

Metaphor

An imaginative comparison of two things, where one thing is said to be the other. Does not use "like" nor "as".

Figurative Language

Language that means something other than it says and is often used to create a feeling or emotion.

Literal Language

Language that means exactly what it says.

The dictionary meaning of a word.

Connotation

The emotional or cultural meaning of a word.
