What are ethics?
Ethics are concerned with what we ought to do - what is right, wrong, unfair, bad. Essentially, we want to benefit and not harm, while maintaining standards.
What are the four principles of ethical research conduct
merit:
& integrity:

respect: respecting rights (privacy, autonomy, confidentiality, culture and informed consent.


beneficence: ensuring benefit exists and outweighs risk


justice: burden we place on ppts

60 points over 2 years. Needed for insurance.

Clinical Confidentiality

Informed consent: limits to confidentiality, mandatory reporting laws, ethical considerations.

Who is the client?

What is included in informed consent?

Practice policies (rates, rebates, booking and cancellation, file management) confidentiality etc

Discuss Multiple relationships

Anytime you assume more than one role with the client (friend, community member).
Conflict of interest.




Boundary crossing =minor, e.g. cross referring


Boundary violation=major, sexual relationship w/ client.
