Define Erosion...

The wearing away of the land by the water.

Usually found on the coast.

Name the four types of erosion

Abrasion, attrition, solution,hydrolic action.

This is ridiculously hard.

Define abrasion.

A type of erosion that happens when materials rub against the rock, over time causing it to wear away.

People with an abrasive personality might rub off on you.

Define attrition.

Type of erosion. Happens when material bumps into each other causing it to become more smooth and round.

You are attracted to something round.

Define solution.

Type of erosion that happens when dissolved materials in the in the sea dissolve the rock.

Define hydrolic action.

The sea pushes air into the cracks causing the rock to widen and fall apart.

What is a headland?

A narrow piece of land that projects from the coastline to the sea.

What is a bay?

A broad inlet of the sea where the land curves inwards.

Miranda sings has so many broad outlets of land.

What do groynes do?

Make a wider beach.

What do gabions do?

Trap material.

What does beach replenishment do?

It is a good aid to other defences.
