Propofol
General anesthetic, short acting hypnotic, NO Analgesic properties! IV only
Sedation dose: 5mcg/kg/min, increase increments of 5-10 mug/kg/min, onset 40 seconds.
S/E-decreased HR, low BP, use in large veins, causes involuntary muscle movements.
Use vented tubing and always on IV pump!
TPA (Alteplase)
Thrombolytic, for MI, PE, Acute Ischemic Stroke. 0.9mg/kg, not to exceed 90 mg! Give as a 1 hour infusion. 10% of total dose given as a bolus over 1-2 minutes before infusion. Need 2 IVs. Have foley cath in place prior to Alteplase.
