Villiers had no title but was promoted annually due to James admiration. Charles had a close relationship with George until his assassination in 1628 by John Felton. Charles was the only one to mourn. Buckingham was assassinated due to how unorganised he was militarywise.

In 1624, Charles persuaded his father to declare war on Spain and for parliament to vote £30,000 towards the cost of the war.

What was the misunderstanding between Charles and Parliament?

▪Charles thought that Parliament had agreed to continue to finance the war, so would fund for it whenever needed


▪Parliament thought that they were financing a naval war since that's what England was traditionally good at, so Charles wouldnt need further financing since he would take the Spanish gold and create a self-financing war
