the story dated to 1618 AD. it appears in multiple cultures. disney turned it into a rags to riches tale. it appears in film today. adeline yen mah is shunned by her wicked step mother for the death of her mother. as much as cinderella was shunned by her stepmothers wicked step sisters. cinderella aka adeline ultimately triumphed. aunt baba calls yen mah her chinese cinderella.
