What emergency is indicated and what procedure should you accomplish?
Uncommanded Prop Feather

BOLDFACE APPLIES
You engine failed and you established a glide at 125 knots heading toward high key.

What do you do?
If PMU FAIL annunciator not illuminated run PMU NORM AIRSTART checklist.
You have just leveled off at 4000 ft enroute to the training areas. Suddenly you detect a loss of thrust and see these cockpit indications.
IMMEDIATE AIRSTART situation
You are clmbing through 12,000 ft preparing for a spin when you hear a tone in your headset and see these indications. What will you do?
Confirm if there is a fire.
FEVER

If fire is confirmed, accomplishing FIRE IN FLIGHT procedure.
You are climbing through 10,000 ft MSL when you sense a loss of pwoer and see the following indications. WHat will you do?

(Np low)
UNCOMMANDED POWER CHANGE
You are performing aerobatics when you hear a tone in your headset. As you complete the roll to level flight, you see these indications.
OIL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
You have already experienced a generator failure, have taken the appropriate action IAW the checklist and are returning to base. What will you do when this happens?
BATTERY AND GENERATOR FAILURE
AHRS failure
main gear retraction malfunction
Nose Gear Retracton Malfunction
Main Gear Extension Malfunction
When will you get this cockpit indication?
a. Oil pressure below 15 psi with PCL at IDLE
b. Oil pressure below 40 psi with PCL above IDLE
When will you get this cockpit indication?
a. PCL in IDLE and oil prssure is between 15-40 psi
b. PCL above IDLE and oil pressure between 40-90 psi for 10 seconds.
T/F? You have lost all attitude information if this indication is displayed on the EADI.
False. The standby attitude indicator will continue to function normally.
a. the nose gear is unsafe
b. the main inboard gear doors are not closed.
What is the result of these indications?
Torque, ITT, N1 are no longer automatically controlled.
You are climbing through 7000 ft when you hear a tone and notice the master warnign and master caution lights on.

What will you do?
PMU FAILURE procedure
What will you do on the ground?

In the air?
PMU FAULT procedure

On ground: PMU switch - OFF, THEN NORM
(If PMY STATUS annunciator remains illuminated, confirm source of fault prior to flight.)

Inflight: The PMU has detected a discrepancy in the weight on wheels switch. A reset is not possible. 2C: Ground Idle will not be available during landing rollout and taxi. Plan for increased landing distances due to higher idle N1 (approximately 67%)
You are in the local area and have slowed from 200 knots to 150 knots preparing for traffic pattern stalls. As you trim off control forces, you need increased forward stick pressure to maintain level flight.
RUNAWAY TRIM procedure
TRIM AID DEVICE FAILURE
You are slowing down to practice slwo flight when you feel increasing back stick pressure needed to maintain level flight as you slow down.
STUCK/FAILED TRIM procedure
CANOPY UNLOCKED procedure.
GENERATOR BUS INOPERATIVE

* note if only GEN BUS is illuminated, check CWS circuit breaker on gen bus panel. If open, do not reset, land as soon as practical.

If GEN BUS accompanied by other indications of generator bus failure or CWS circuit breaker is set:
2. BUS TIE switch - NORM
3. Land as soon as practical.
BATTERY BUS INOPERATIVE
BUS TIE INOPERATIVE

1. BUS TIE switch - NORM

If BUS TIE annunciator remains illuminated:
2. Land as soon as practical.

2N: Expect approx 30 min of useful power from the main battery under these conditions. To conserve bat pwr, consider deactivating int/ext lighting. Avionics master can also be set to OFF, disabling all avionics and radios with the exception of the backup UHF.
LOW FUEL PRESSURE

1. PEL - Execute
2. BOOST PUMP switch - ON
FUEL IMBALANCE procedure

1N: If FP FAIL is illuminated on alternate engine display, refer to the Fuel Probe Malfunction checklist.

2N: If a fuel leak is suspected, refer to Leaking Fuel From Wing procedure.
FUEL PROBE MALFUNCTION procedure
LEAKING FUEL FROM WING
OBOGS OVERTEMP procedure
ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS DUCT OVERTEMP procedure
SMOKE AND FUME ELIMINATION procedure
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS
1. Hydraulic pressure - check
2. Airspeed - 150 knots or below
3. Landing Gear Handle - Down
*low pressure will necessitate using the emergency gear extension handle
4. Flaps - EXTEND (AS REQUIRED)
5. Land as soon as practical
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS procedure
What causes this indication?
Cockpit pressure differential of 3.9-4.0 or greater will cause this indication.
How do you accomplish
ZOOM/GLIDE - 125 KNOTS (MINIMUM)

When would this step not be done?
Acc. to Dash 1 3.9

Above 150 KIAS initiate a zoom climb using a 2G pull up to a 20 deg climb angle until approaching the desired glide airspeed (use approximately 20 KIAS lead point) and then initiating a 0 to +0.5G pushover to capture the desired glide airspeed.

Below 150 KIAS, the benefits of a zoom climb are negligible. The recommended procedure is to perform a constant altitude deceleration to the desired glide airspeed.
How is zoom to eject accomplished
acc to dash 1 3.9

pulling up to a 20 deg climb angle (if able) and ejecting before a sink rate develops.
What altitude loss will be expected during an airstart attempt?

how long will it take?
dash 1 3-14
descent rate 1350-1500 fpm

approximately 1200 feet of altitude will be lost during an airstart attempt performed at the best glide speed of 125 KIAS.

approximately 40 s will be required to complete the starting sequence
what should you do if you have to fly with BOOST PUMP in ON
notify maintenance upon landing of the duration of flight with BOOST PUMP in ON
If there is no rise in ITT within ____________ after ________, place the PCL to OFF and abort the start
10 seconds; fuel flow indications
indications of uncommanded propeller feather
- rapid reduction in Np
- high torque

- noticeable loss of thrust
- increase in propeller noise
- possibly engine/airframe vibrations
indications of prop-sleeve touchdown
- fluctuations in Np
- torque increasing
- thrust decreasing
- engine vibrations
What are the steps of
EMERGENCY GROUND EGRESS
1. ISS mode selector - solo
2. Seat safety pin - install (both)
3. parking brake - as required
4. canopy - open

if canopy cannot be opened or situation requires right side egress:
5. CFS handle - rotate and pull
6. unstrap
7. BAT, GEN, and AUX BAT switches - OFF
8. Evacuate aircraft
What is the next step after ENGINE FAILURE DURING FLIGHT boldface?
4. Airstart - attempt if warranted
What are the steps of
CHIP DETECTOR WARNING
1. PCL - minimum necessary to intercept ELP; avoid unecessary PCL movements
2. PEL - execute
What are the steps of
OIL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION or LOW OIL PRESSURE

(also, when would ou do this)
1N Use this procedure for any of the following:
- red OIL PX illuminated
- amber OIL PX illuminated
- oil pressure fluctuations
- oil pressure out of limits

1. Terminate maneuver
2. Check oil pressure; if pressure is normal, continue operations

If red OIL PX illuminates and/or amber OIL PX annunciator remains illuminated for 5 seconds:
3. PCL - minimum necessary to intercept ELP; avoid unnecessary PCL movements
4. PEL - execute
