Which two layers in the embryo make no direct tissue contribution to the fetus?
Trophoblast and hypoblast
What two layers make the bilaminar disk? Where are they?
The epiblast is touching the amniotic cavity and hypoblast is touching the primitive yolk sac.
Where does hCG come from?
The syncytiotrophoblast (highly invasive tissue that is also responsible for implantation)
What forms the placenta?
The syncytiotrophoblast
What layer surrounds the embryo when it is a bilaminar embryo?
The cytotrophoblast
How/where does the primitive streak form?
Cells in the epiblast migrate medially and toward one end of the bilaminar disc. This end of the disc then defines the caudal end. The end of the primitive streak is called the primitive knot.
