IMMEDIATELY begin chest compressions (adequate depth and rate; allow the chest to recoil completely)
Request additional EMS response Perform 2 minutes of high-quality 1-rescuer adult CPR 1. Adequate dept and rate 2. Correct compression-to-ventilation ratio 3. Allows the chest to recoil completely 4. Adequate volumes for each breath 5. Minimal interruptions of less than 10 seconds throughout |
|
After 2 minutes (5 cycles), patient is assessed and second rescuer resumes compressions while candidate operates AED
|
Turn on power to AED
Follow prompts and correctly attach AED to patient Stop CPR and ensure all individuals are clear of the patient during rhythm analysis Stop CPR and ensure all individuals are clear of the patient and delivers shock from AED Immediately directs rescuer to resume chest compressions |
