Describe how a podcast works. 7 steps
1) The completed podcast is saved in an appropriate file format (.mp3, .acc, etc.)
2) The podcast is then posted as a file to a server with a publicly accessible URL.
3) Next, an RSS (XML) file that includes ‘tags’ or information about the podcast is created. This information includes the podcast’s title, summary, and description.
4) The RSS file is also posted to a publicly accessible URL. The RSS file should include a link to the podcast’s URL.
5) The RSS file’s URL can then be shared with podcast syndication services like iTunes. iTunes, for example, has a simple ‘Submit Podcast’ link.
6) When a second podcast episode is created, the first two steps are repeated and the XML file is updated with new tags.
7) The syndication service (iTunes, in our example) checks your URL once a day to see if it has been updated. It reads the new tags and finds the second episode on your website.

Tips for making a video better?
1. Stabilize yourself (tripod)
2.Tighten up the shot
3. Shoot the Action
4. Set the White Balance
5. Use an editing program
6. Start video with action
Three steps of video editing?
Audio- are you going to record on the same device?
Budget- do you need to rent equipment? Buy props?
Timeline- do you have a project schedule in place to get project done in time?
_______:All cameras should be on the same side of an imaginary “line of action” so as not to disorient the viewer.
180 degree rule
___________: divides the frame into thirds both horizontally and vertically. The points where the vertical and horizontal lines cross are aesthetically pleasing spots to place subjects or to have perspective lines converge. It is usually best to avoid placing horizon lines exactly in the middle of a frame, but to place the horizon either above or below center, approximately one-third or two-thirds up the height of the frame.
Rule of Thirds
Steps to Post Production (10 steps)
1) Log & capture your footage.
2) Do any necessary file conversion.
3) Watch through your footage and take notes – what pieces do you immediately want to keep or discard?
4) Organize your video clips into folders or bins, and decide which will have what footage.
5) Make ‘rough cuts’ of the footage you want to keep in the timeline & start placing them in order.
6) Keep making rough cuts and arranging clips in the order to be played until you’ve made it through all the footage.
7)Watch through your finished rough cut and make any changes or re-arrangements.
8) Tighten-up your cuts so that they appear smooth and the pacing of the video improves.
9)Watch through your video several times until you’re happy with the result.
10)Add any finishing touches and export your finished video in the desired format.
_________:Allows you to select the frames of video you want to keep and then ‘trims’ the rest away.
Trim
_______:Splits one segment of video into multiple segments so that you can rearrange clips in a new order.
Join: Reverse of split. Clips must’ve come from the same segment and be in the same order.
Split
_____:Removes selected segment from timeline.
Cut
_______:Copies selected segment
Copy
______:Pastes a copied segment wherever the red playback bar is on the timeline.
Paste
______:Allows you to crop the frame to a specified area and rotate it if you want.
Crop and Rotate

HTML-5 video is?

example?
A Container Format is a type of file format that takes other file types and packages them in a way that is easy to read by specific programs & hardware. For example, if you insert a DVD into your computer and open it up in a Finder window, you will see several .VOB files. .VOB files ‘contain’ the video and audio to be read by your computer’s DVD player

HTMl-5 is the Wilderness Downtown
6 characteristics of Flash

2) Is the current standard for web video.
3) Used by Hulu, YouTube, Reuters…
4) Supports a limited number of video file types (h.264, .MP4, etc.)

6) Provides quick streaming/playback of high-quality (compression-less) video
5 characteristics of HTML-5
1) Intends to become the new standard for web video.
2) Is not supported by several browsers (for best results, use Google Chrome).
3) Hampered by a disagreement as to what file types should be allowed; there are not specifically required file types as of yet.
4) Apple, YouTube (somewhat) supported.
5) HTML5 will be promising for interactive video because it is a coded element that can be altered and affected by other bits of code.
______:Reverse of split. Clips must’ve come from the same segment and be in the same order.
