Hypocalcemia

Magnesium
contained in bone, coenzyme in metobolism of protein & carbs, regulated same as calcium, acts on myoneruoal junction and norm cardiac function
Hypermagnesium
s/s: lethargy, drowsiness, N/V, somolence(drowsiness), reflexes impaired, respiratory/cardiac arrest can occur
TX: IV calcium chloride or Gluconate (CA)
Hypomagnesium
prolonged fasting/starvation; chronic alcholism, fluid loss
s/s: tremors, seizures, cardiac arrhthmias, confusion,
give MAGNESIUM
Protein Imbalance
particularly albumin sig. in plasma volume
Hypoproteineimia
anorexia, malnurtion, starvation, fad dieting poorly balance veg diet, poor absorption, protein can shift out of intravascular space, hemmorrhage, nephrotic syndrome
s/s: edema, slow healing, anorexia, fatigue, anemia

TX: high carb/protein diet
IV fluids
cause electrolyte imbalance
