The smailled identifiable section of any wave that is repeated at regular intervals and is a fundamental property of periodic waves.
What is frequency?
The number of times an alternating curent goes through its compleete cycle in one second.
What is a Ground wave?
The ground wave is actually composed of 2 separate component waves called the space wave and the surface wave. . (determined if traveling along the surface of the earth or over the surfae of the earth.
What is a sky wave?
The surface wave reaches the receiving antenna by traveling along the earths surface. The surface wave follows the ground due to diffraction.
What is diffraction?
A radio wave which encounters an obstacle in its path and has a natural tendance to bend around the obstacle.
What is reflection?
RF waves can reflect off various objects such as bldgs. mountains, and the atmosphere. The relections mavy vary in phase and strength from the original wave.
What happens wen radio waves are relfected from flat surfases.
Phase shifts in the waves occurs.
What is ducting?
A wave transmission will be extended becasue the waves are traveling between layers of warm/cool air called inversions which are channels or ducts. Ducting occurs between the layers of cool air and the wave transmission propogate far beyond nomal line of sight distances.
What is electromagnetic interference?
Energy which disrupts the reception of the designed signal.
What is absorption?
Transfer of energy from a wave to the medium through which it passes. The energy of the wave can be reflected, transmitted, or absorbed. If the medium absorbs only a fraction of the energy, it is said to be transparent to that energy. When all energy is absorbed, the medium is opaque. All substances absorb energy to some extent.
What is a Sky Wave?
The surface wave reaches the receiving antenna by traveling along the earth's surface. A surface wave follows the ground due to driffraction.
What is Diffraction?
A radio wave which encounters an obstacle in its path has a natural tendency to bend around the obstacle. The bending, called diffraction, results in a change in direction of part of the energy from the normal line of sight.Diffracted energy is weak, it is possible to detect. The principle effect of diffraction is to extend the range of LOS comms.
What is attenuation?
Attenuation is the weakening of the RF signal due to being partially blocked or absorbed. .
What is RADAR?
Radio Detection and Ranging?
What is the doppler effect?
Doppler Effect is the apparent change in the frequency of waves, as sound or light, occurring when the source and observer are in motion relative to another, the frequency increasing when the source and observer approach one another decreasing when they move apart.
What is malicious code?
Malicious code, aka malware, in the form of a virus, worm, trojan horse, rootkit, spyware, or hybrid/mobile code, can deny service damage or corrupt software, infect data, or permit an adversary to extract data from information systems.
