HERP - Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Personnel (danger of producing harmful biological effects in humans by exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic fields)

1. Maintain Breathing

What is 3 methods of controling bleeding?
1. Direct Pressure - directly on wound
2. Pressure Points - nearest to wound, main artery lines near skin surface and over bone (22 pressure points in body)
3. Tourniquet - do not apply to face/neck, uses a pad/band/tightening device**Last Resort**
What is Shock Treatment and the signs?
Treatment is to calm and reassure the victim, maintain body temp, elevate legs 8-10"

Sign:
1. pulse is weak and rapid
2. breathing is shallow
3. body temperature is low

What is treatment for Electric Shock?
1. DO NOT TOUCH the victim
2. Kill the power source
3. use BELT to pull victim away
4. begin CPR if needed

1. excessive sweating, painful cramps
2. move victim to a cool place
3. give a cool water every 15 minutes
4. massage cramps
The sign for Heat Exhaustion
1. disturbance of blood flow to brain/heart/lung
2. victim is weak/ dizzy
3. cool skin/moist/clammy/dilated pupils
4. move victim to cool place / loosen clothing / apply wet cloths to head and groin/ give salt water
Heat Stroke
1. very serious / life and death
2. extremely high body temp/ very dry and hot skin/ pupils constricted
3. douse body with cold water/ move victim to cool place/ place victim on back/ give a little cool water
