Passed by Congress in 1996, this legal act enforces standards for electronic patient health, administrative, and financial data.
National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics(NCVHS)
Formed in 1949 and restructed following the passage of HIPAA, the NCVHS is an advocate for uniform health data sets, particularly for underrepresented populations. Individuals qualifying under the Medicaid program must be a doctor of medicine or osteopathy, nurswe practiitioner, certified nurse-midwife, dentist, or qualifying physician assistant.
