Ramses 11

Reign as pharaoh lasted 90 years. The body of rameses can be found at a museum in Cairo.

Abu Simbel

Ramses had the temple of Abu Simbel built in the Nubian region of southern Egypt. At the entrance to the larger temple there are four huge statues of Ramses sitting down. They are about 66 feet tall.

Pi-Ramesses

Ramses also built a new capital city of Egypt called Pi-Ramsesses. It became a large and powerful city under Ramses rule, but was later abandoned.

Artisans

Skilled artisans were considered socially superior to common labourers. They learned their art from a master who ensured stylistic continuity in the beautiful objects they created for the living and the dead.

Woman of all classes could earn wages, own property and employ workers, but their main role was within the family.

Mostly only used for religious purposes.

Primarily royalty, priests and civil officials used the language, while everyday people would use the language of Coptic.


Priests would use them to write prayers, texts related to the after life, on the walls of their tombs, inside coffins and guides to the afterlife.
