During the war, in order to supply troops with rations the U.S created the first ever Selective Services. Which still exist today.




WW1 had more casualties than any other war in its time. over 9 million soldiers, 5 million civilians, and 7 millions either killed or left permanently disabled.An epidemic that killed over 25 milliom worldwide

WW1 was one of the most costly wars of its time. the wa aprroximently cost around 71 billion dollars.




WW1 was fought mainly in Europe and disrupted several economies.


WW1 also allowed the U.S through capitalism, to become the worlds leading creditor and industrial power.

Political Effects

WW1 involved 28 countries, the most ever in a war.




Resulted in the downfall of four world powers (politically) in Russia in 1917, Austria-Hungary, Germany in 1918, and Turkey in 1922.


Germany was blamed and had to end up paying 33 billion for the main part of the war. not finishing until 2010.

Technological Effects

WW1 was the first ever war to use airplanes, blimps, machine-guns, long-range artillery, chemical weapons and flame throwers as well as new strategies and battle tactics.
