What is resistance?
Resistance is measured by Ohm's Law R=V/i
R-resistance ohms
V- potential difference, volts
i- current amperes
resistance is opposition to direct current flow
What is reactance?
opposition to alternating current flow by capacitance or inductance
Reactance = potential (voltage)/I (AC current)
What is capacitance?
ability to store charge
Capacitance = charge/potential
What is a capacitor?
Capacitor is usually made up of 2 conductors with an insulator in between
What is Inductance?
ability due to magnetic effects to produce potential with current changes
What is impednace?
net oppsoition to current flow by both resistance and reactance, ratio of potential to current in an AC circuit
What is a high pass filter?
attenuates signals at low frequeny while leaving high frequency signals unchanged
What is a low pass filter?
attenuates signals at high frequency, leaves low frequency signals unchanges
What is cut off filter frequency?
frequency at which there is a 30% attenuation in signal amplitude
What is filter phase shift?
time delay caused by a filter (latency change) caused by a filter, especially affecting low-freq components of a signal
What is filter time constant?
resistance times cpacitance, inversely related to cutoff filter freq.
