Wind Cold
Features:
- simultaneous fever & CHILLS
- no sweat
- occipital HA
- myalgia
- nasal obstruction, or runny nose w/TWM
- sneezing
- cough or wheeze w/TWM
- T: normal or with thin, white coat
- P: floating or floating & tight

Treatment Principle:
Expel Wind and Cold
Redirect LU qi downward

JING FANG BAI DU SAN

Acupuncture:
LI 4 - Expel wind, rel ext, reg wei, adjust sweating
GB 20 - Eliminate wind, benefit head, clear sense organs

- T: normal or red tipped w/ thin yellow coat
- floating, rapid

YIN QIAO SAN

Acupuncture:
DU 14 - cup Expel wind, firm ext, clear heat
UB 12 cupped - : Expels wind, releases exterior, strengthens wei qi, firms exterior, DD&D LU qi
LI 11 - : Clears heat
LI 4 – : Regulates wei qi, adjusts sweating, expel wind and release exterior
SJ 5 - : Expels wind (esp WH) and releases exterior

Acute Exterior Disorders:

Summerheat and Damp
Features:
- acute, relatively high fever unrelieved by sweating
- heaviness in body, woolly headed "wrapped in damp towel"
- nausea and vomiting
- diarrhea (damp drawn to SP, LU/LI pair)
- fatigue, lethargy
- thirst
- irritability, restlessness
- concentrated urine
- maybe sore throat
- oozy, stick sweat possible
- s/sx worse @ mid-afternoon
- T: greasy, white or yellow coat
- P: soft, soggy and possibly rapid

Clear Summer Damp
Transform Dampness

Formula:
XIN JIA XIANG RU YIN

Acupuncture:
LU 6 - Heat syndromes of LU w/o sweating
LI 4 - Regulates wei, adjusts sweating, releases ext
SJ 6 - Regulate qi, clear heat in 3 jiaos
SP 9 - Regulate SP, resolve dampness, benefit LJ
