Mechanism of action of Finasteride

Type II 5 alpha reductase inhibitor. Inhibits production of DHT from testosterone thus reducing proliferation of prostatic cells.

Inhibits alpha 1 adrenoceptors on vascular smooth muscle and prostate smooth muscle.

Mechanism of action of Tamsulosin

relaxes prostate smooth muscle resulting in imptoved urine flow rate. No effect on BVs.
