Distance your vehicle travels from the time you see the conflict until you begin to respond

Reaction time

The time it takes you to react to the conflict by taking your foot off the accelerator and applying the brake

Actual stopping time

The distance your vehicle travels from the time your foot hits the brake until your vehicle comes to a complete stop

Following distance

Keeping at least a 2-3 second interval between you and the car in front of you
