Clear liquids

Limited diet to only clear fluids (broth, bouillon, coffee, tea, certain carbonated beverages, clear fruit juices, geletin or pipsicles)

Thickned liquid

All liquids must be thickened to the appropriate consistency (nectar honey or pudding) as recommended by SLP/feeding team when thin fluids can be accidently aspirated

Full liquid

To a clear- or thickened diet can be added smooth-textured dairy products, custards, refined cooked cereals, vegetable juice, puréed vegetables, or any fruit juices

Puréed

All of the liquid diets + scrambled eggs, puréed meats, vegetable, fruits, or mashed potatoes and gravy.

Mechanical soft

All liquids + purréed + ground or finely diced meats, flaked fish, cottage cheese, cheese, rice, potatoes, pancakes, light breads, cooked vegetables, cooked or canned fruits, bananas, soups, or peanut butter.

Low or soft residue

Low-fiber, easily digested foods, such as pastas, casseroles, moist tender meats, canned cooked fruits and vegetables, desserts, cakes, and cookies without nuts or coconut, can be added.

High fiber

Fresh fruits, steemed vegetables, bran, oatmeal, and dried fruits.
