The point where the records keeper purges data from the current accounting or patrol period to free disk space to begin the new accounting/patrol period. FSM generates prints and extracts required records for retained returns and submission to SUP-51.
CLOSE OUT
A key that potentially adds a third value to all the keys on a keyboard. It is similar to the Shift key that adds a second meaning to the keys.
CONTROL KEY
A flashing underline or block on your monitor that indicates where data may
be entered.
CURSOR
organized area on your computers hard drive or floppy diskettes consisting of a group of data records used for storing information.
DATA FILE
An order of subsistence from a commercial vendor, other than
Subsistence Prime Vendor, where a contract has been established because there is
expectation of future orders. A DD Form 1155 is created to document this type of order.
DELIVERY ORDER
A storage device with a magnetizable rotating surface upon which information is
stored. The two types of disks used by FSM. Hard Disks are permanently maintained inside your computer and floppy disks are used for DAYBACKS and SYSBACKS.
DISK
A term used in FSM to direct users to input information onto the screen by typing information on their keyboard.
ENTER
A set of related records treated as a unit, usually stored on a disk under a unique file name.
FILE
used for special functions such as Save, Post, Add, Delete, or Help.
