What is the first step for Wound Station?
Gather your supplies
What is the second step for the Wound Station?
Prepare your tape - label with your initials, time and date one end of one strip
What is the third step for the Wound Station?
Locate your biohazard container, if possible move it where you will not cross over your sterile field with your soiled dressing.
What is the forth step for the Wound Station?
Open your dressings and the plastic boat with the open edges closest to you, open packages away from you.
What is the fifth step for the Wound Station?
Pour a small amount of NS on the gauze pads in the plastic boat
What is the sixth step for the Wound Station?
Don clean gloves and loose tape on wound dressing, remove old dressing up and away as one if possible. Wrap the old dressing in your clean glove and discard in the biohazard container.
What is the seventh step for the Wound Station?
Don sterile gloves and remove top wet gauze, sqeeze out excess NS,
What is the eight step for the Wound Station?
Pull apart the wet gauze and pack it into the wound, DO NOT TOUCH THE SKIN! If you touch the skin remove the gauze and your gloves. Don new sterile gloves and start at step 7 again.
What is the ninth step for the Wound Station?
Place sterile 4 x 4 over the entire wound; then take the ABD and place it over the 4x4 .
What is the tenth step for the Wound Station?
Remove gloves and secure with the tape, sign the treatment record, state patient tolerated procedure and no ordor or drainage noted, declare you have completed.
