- involuntary, uncontrolled, recurring movements


Ataxic cerebral palsy

-Abnormal posturing/movement


- loss of orderly muscle coordination


Dystonic cerebral palsy


uncommon


Features:


- reduced activity


- stiff movement (hypokinesia)


- hypotonia




Choreoathetotic cerebral palsy

Rare


Injury: excessive hyperbilirubinemia


Features:


- increased and stormy movements (hyperkinesia)


- hypotonia

Mixed cerebral palsy


10-15%


Used when more than one type of motor pattern is present


Associated complications:


- sensory deficits


- seizures


- cognitive-perceptual impairments
