What is coronary heart disease?
The disease is caused by plaque building up along the inner walls of the arteries of the heart, which narrows the arteries and reduces blood flow to the heart.
What causes coronary heart disease?
Caused by a build-up of fatty deposits on the walls of the arteries around the heart, The risk of developing this increases if you smoke, have high blood pressure, do not take regular exercise or have diabetes
What are the symtoms of coronary heart disease?
Common symtoms are angina and a heart attack. You can also experience palpitations and unusual breathlessness
How do you diagnose coronary heart disease?
Go to the GP with symtoms, take a risk assesment which includes talking to the GP about medical and family history, lifestyle and have a blood test.

Other tests include: Electrocardiogram, X-ray, MRI scan, CT scan.
How to treat coronary heart disease?
Cannot be cured, however there is treatment that can manage symptoms and reduce the chance of a heart attack. e.g. lifestyle changes - regular exercise and stopping smoking, Medicines can be prescribed e.g. beta blockers which prevent angina and treat high blood pressure.
How to recover from a coronary heart disease?
Exercise, education, relaxation and emotional support, self-care, support groups.
How to prevent coronary heart disease?
Lifestyle changes e.g. balanced diet, being physically active, giving up smoking, controlling blood cholesterol
