The Gilded Age
Period in the late 1800s marked be what appears to be great accomplishments on the surface, but underneath there were many problems with political corruption, poor working and living conditions of the poor, and factory owners exploiting their workers, leading to often violent conflict between workers and bosses.
Factory Sytem
The change from production occurring in small shops by individuals to large systems employing many workers. This increased productivity resulted in high output and decreased costs ad prices of goods. Henry Fords assembly line methods are great examples of this. In the late 1800s,factories began to be powered by electricity, replacing steam engine power. This made them even more productive.
