Describe the clavicle
It is a long bone but it has no medullary (marrow) canal
- it is a trabecular (cancellous, spongy) bone surrounded by compact shell
- it is the first one to begin ossification in the embryo but one of the last to finish (18-20y in males; 21-25y in females)
- there can be large variation within individuals
