Homeostasis
the process by which a constant internal environment is maintained despite changes in the environment.
endocrine system
the collection of glands that produce hormones that regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, and mood, among other things.
regulatory system
a basic stimulus-response coupling mechanism to allow organisms to sense and respond to changes in many different environmental conditions.
