Why was Henry VII's position not a strong one when he took the throne at the Battle of Bosworth?
1. He had very little real support from the nobels
2. He was seen by many as a 'foreigner'

What did Henry VII do to secure his throne?
1. He rewarded his loyal servants and knighted some of those who fought with him at Bosworth
2. He went to London, the capital where parliament is
3. He appointed a council and gave out major positions in the royal household such as treasurer and chancellor
4. He held his coronation service - as confirmation and aknowledgement as king
5. He called parliament to confirm his kingship, it was public aknowledgement.
6. He punished those who fought against him at Bosworth through attainders to strengthen his position and prioritise support.
7. He married Elizabeth of York - building Yorkist alliences

1. To fulfill the promise he had made before the Battle of Bosworth
2. To unite the Yorkists and the Lancastrians
3. Elizabeth of York was likely to produce an heir and 'spares' to secure the Tudors on the throne
