US: to spread their ideology (ideological concern),
to maintain strong economic status (t4, wanted countries to adopt an open liberal economic system to enable trade),
to prevent another war from taking place again (explains their active involvement in post-war politics)
USSR: to repair their war-shattered economy (wanted huge control over E2 countries to exploit their resources),
to ensure their national security (harsh stance towards G & to completely eliminate G threat),
to spread their ideology as well (more of a practical concern than an ideological concern)
