Flexion - decreasing angle at moving joint (like wrists to shoulder), extension - increasing angle at moving joint, abduction - movement away from mid-line of body, adduction - movement towards mid-line, depression - movement towards mid-line of body, rotation - twisting movement
Name & describe 3 types of joint
1. Fibrous - immovable joint, 2. Cartilagenous - partially movable, 3. Synovial - fully movable
Types of synovial joint?
Gliding - allows gliding and sliding movements to occur, hinge - allows flexion and extension to occur (door) pivot - when one bone rotates around another (neck), condyloid - when convex of one bone fits into concave of another (wrist), saddle - same but greater movement, ball and socket - ball of 1 socket fits into socket of another
