How did John Dalton develop on Democritus' theory?
In 18o4, he agreed with Democritus that matter was made up of tiny spheres that couldn't be broken up but he reckoned that each emement had a different type of atom
Matter is made up of atoms but can't be broken up and each element had its own individual type of atom
How did J.J. Thomson develop on John Dalton's theory
He discovered particles-electrons could be removed from atoms. He also suggested that atoms were spheres of positive charge with negative electrons stuck in them
Like a plum pudding
Plums - Negative electrons
Sphere - atoms of positive charge
How was the plum pudding model developed with the nuclear model
Rutherford fired a beam of alpha particles at thin gold foil. Most of the particles went through the sheet but some more than expected deflected-Most of the mass in an atom must be concentrated at the centre in a tiny nucleus. The nucleus must have a positive charge since it repelled the positive alpha particles.
