How do objects acquire a static charge?
Two insulating materials rub together, electrons move from one to the other. One insulator will have a positive static charge from loss of electrons the other has a negative static charge due to the excess of electrons.
What happens if electrostatic charged build up?
It can spark causing explosions if near anything flammable
How can we prevent this? What do we use it in?
Earthing. Charged objects can connect to ground through a conductor to prevent built up charge.
