Terrestrial radiation
Certain small amounts of radioactivity in the soil adds to the background levels to which people are exposed the main contributor of the background is the GammaRay dose of decaying uranium and thorium also in the in the water we drink there are a number of naturally radioactive elements that may turn up
Cosmic radiation
The higher up we go we get more radiation from outer space there are two types primary and secondary. Primary, the galactic cosmic rays come from outside the solar system composed mostly of positively charged particles cosmic rays consist of 87% protons of 11% alpha particles and about 1% each of other heavier nuclei and electrons at latitudes above 55°. Solar cosmic rays produced following severe solar flares on the surface of the sun that is the second type of primary cosmic rays. Secondary cosmic rays result from interactions that occur when the primary rays reach the earths atmosphere. Earths surface secondary cosmic rays consist mainly of muons( hard component) electrons and photons (soft components) and neutrons and protons (nucleonic component)
Internal emitters review activity of the human body
Because moments of radioactive substances are found throughout the world in soil and water some of this activity is transferred to Man by way of the food chain cycle
