- Emergency Alerts (EA)

What is the MFS policy in regards to Public Information and Warnings to the Community?
It is MFS policy to:
- provide public info, advice and warnings that are accurate timely and comprehensive
- ensure, where possible, info is accessible to those who need it by employing a range of communications mediums
- provide public info that is consistent with info provided by other public sector agencies
- when possible and safe to do so, provide information, warnings and advice to the public concerning current emergency incidents
What are the 5 key questions which must be answered before a public info message can be issued?
- where is the incident?
- what area is the incident expected to move to or affect?
- what are the risks to the community and/or its assets in the area?
- what is the public advised to do about those risks?
- where can the public find additional information?
What are the three levels of advice and warnings to be provided to the community in the event of a bushfire or other incident?
Advice (ADV) - notify the public of an issue of public interest
Watch And Act (WAM)
Emergency Warning (EWM) - highest level of risk to life / get away from incident
