What is the feminist explanation for rise of divorce?
Feminists argue that due to the dual burden and triple shift, it puts more pressure on the wives and puts stain on the marriage. Whilst there has been big improvements, feminists argue that within the family, the improvements are quite slow as marriage is patriarchal.
What is a pure relationship? And why does it lead to high divorce rates?
A relationship that exists to satisfy each partners needs and not out of the sense of duty, tradition or sake of the children.
This leads to higher divorce rates because individuals don't stay with a partner if the relationship doesn't make them happy (personal fufilment)

What is cohabitation?
An unmarried couple in a sexual relationship living together. Some feel as if cohabitation is a step before marriage and some see it as a permanent alternative to marriage. Many cohabiting couples tend to marry if they have children.

What are the two reasons for black children to stay with their mothers?
1) due to slavery-most children stayed with mothers during this period of time and this trend has stayed.
2) black women are seen as very independent and strong.
What is the beanpole family?
A particular type of extended family that mainly involves grandparents, parent and children but not aunts, cousins or uncles.
