One-Rescuer CPR (Adult)
1) Make sure scene is safe
2) Tap patient, "are you alright?"
3) If patient is not breathing normally, shout for help
4) contact dispatcher for AED
5) Check for pulse for 5-10 seconds
6) If pulse--give 1 breath every 6 seconds
7) If NO pulse--begin chest compressions
8) 30 compressions and 2 breaths
9) Heel of 1 hand on lower half of sternum, place other hand over and interlock fingers
10) press in 2 inches, 100 compressions/minute
CPR (Child)
1) Same opening
2) 1 breath every 3-5 seconds (if pulse)
3) 30/2 compressions/breath ; 100 per min
Choking Procedure
1) Are you okay?
2) Make fist, thumb in, just above navel.
3) In and up!
chest thrusts (same thing) if patient is obese or pregnant
Infant = 5 back slaps over your knee, chest thrusts if that fails
