Compensated shock
The first stage of shock, when the body is able to maintain normal function
Decompensated shock
The second stage of shock, when the body cannot make up for reduced perfusion, the blood is shunted away from non-vital body parts
Irreversible shock
Last stage of shock, when blood flow is very low, body cells begin to die, and vital organs are permanently damaged
