Unconscious Mind
Conscious: thoughts we’re aware of (thoughts, perceptions)
Pre-conscious: not currently thought of, but can be accessed (memories, stored knowledge)
Unconscious: cannot be accessed (fears, violent motives, unacceptable sexual desires)
Psyche
Id: pleasure principle, selfish and demanding, irrational.
Ego: reality principle, rational, logical, combines id and superego.
Superego: morality principle, punishes ego with guilt, sense of right and wrong.
