Elements of promissory estoppel
1) defendant makes a promise
2) that promise induces an act/forbearance by plaintiff
3) defendant reasonably would have expected plaintiff's act or forbearance
4) injustice can only be avoided by enforcement (detrimental reliance)
For Charities
Promissory Estoppel can be supported by a promise alone
For employees pension plan
reliance need not be detrimental
