What is Stroke volume
The amount of blood pumped out of the left ventricle of heart in a single contraction
How is stroke volume effected by aerobic training
An increase in stroke volume, more blood pumped around the body per contraction
Cardiac output
Amount of blood pumped out of the L- ventricle per minute
How is cardiac output calculated?
Stroke volume (SV) X Number of beats per minute (HR) = Cardiac output (CO)
How is CO effected by training
Increase in cardiac output, heart pumps more blood around the body at any HR, decrease in resting HR
What is haemoglobin
Responsible for the transport of oxygen, CO2 binds to haemoglobin then delivers to the working cells
How does training affect haemoglobin level
Increases level of haemoglobin per millilitre of blood, meaning each ML of blood is delivering more oxygen
Oxygen uptake
The body’s ability to absorb oxygen into the blood, transport the oxygen, then transfer it into the muscle
